5 Things You Need in Your Man Cave (+ A Video Tour of Ours!)
Since designing Hubby’s man cave last year, it’s been one of our favourite rooms in the house. We have spent many, many nights down here after the kids are in bed relaxing and watching Netflix together. Since last year, my husband has been adding beautiful details to this room like custom LED lighting, so I thought it would be fun to share some of the updates with you, 5 things that I’d recommend having in YOUR man cave, plus a video tour of ours!
Welcome to our cave! Ooops – did I say “our”? I meant to say “his”, but I definitely spend a lot of time down here too! Even though this room isn’t quite my style, I really appreciate how sleek and modern it looks and how much work my hubby has put into it to make it his own. We still love our Ozzie sectional from The Brick, and the Klipsch speaker system and 65″ LG smart TV. The combo of the sofa, surround sound and TV make us feel like we never even need to leave our house for date night! Date night in is just as good.
After enjoying this space for a year and a half, here are some things we’ve really grown to appreciate and that I think are essentials to any man cave:
1: Comfy Seating
A sofa and / or chairs in any theater room or TV room space needs to be comfortable for both laying down and sitting up. Even though this couch looks sleek an modern, it’s comfy enough for a nap.
2: Great Sound
A great surround sound system like this one from Klipsch makes you feel like you’re in a large movie theater even though you’re cozy at home!
3: A Spot for Snacks
If you have room, an area with a mini fridge and even a wet bar is handy for movie-style snacks and drinks. We also hide candy from the children here.
4: Cool Lighting
Anything from dimmable lights to accent LEDs will make your man cave feel moody and special. My husband installs marble & LED features professionally, so he’s had a lot of fun adding some amazing lighting effects to his theater room.
5: Personality
It’s always a good idea to put whimsical elements in any space that are unique to your personality. Hubby is a huge fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, video games & Batman, so if you look closely, you can find little homages to these favourites throughout this space.

Now tell me: What would your dream home theater room look like?

I like your man cave. Can you please share where you purchased the stock cabinets for your snack station? Thanks!
The luckiest guy in the world lives there. Only one thing missing. I may be a little biased but “I Love Lamp”.
Hang on a second … you said “man cave” and now you are spending as much time as your man down there, what’s going on? 🙂 … congrats Christina!
It does seems to be awesome to spend time together and watch movies in that room. I love to do that with my mrs as well… at the moment being impossible having a almost 2 years old baby girl that doesn’t give us any free time at all 🙂
I could only dream to have a “man cave” to run after work and distress a little bit … I keep dreaming 🙂
Thanks for sharing this! Excellent job, loved it!
A bulbous mancave, my hubby would love a space like this one. We need help in creating one. Help!!!!!
I love that man cave! But I don’t want a movie theater room only, I wan’t a monster pc gaming rig in there.
Great idea
Woah that’s just sick, man! I love every bit of it and those sound system just perfect!
Thanks, Nick
You’re welcome! By the way, can I ask if you accept guest posts?
Christina is not accepting guest posts at this time ?
Just love it! You’ve made such a small space so functional.
The color scheme works well too.
The blue lighting works a treat.
I adore your shot!!
