I love the look of ribbon on a Christmas tree, and if you do too this tutorial is for you! After many years, I’ve finally found my favourite way to put ribbon on a Christmas tree to make it look natural, yet full. Let me show you how.

Here’s a first look at our Christmas tree in our living room. I’ll go into more detail about it later, but I think the star of the show here is the beautiful loops of burlap ribbon.

I’ve used two different widths of wired burlap ribbon to create a rustic glam feel on our Christmas tree this year.

There are a few tricks to making ribbon look natural and full on a Christmas tree:

1. Cut the ribbon to between 2 and 4 foot lengths before putting it on the tree
   This makes it easier to manipulate and to make look more random on the tree.
2. Tuck the end of the ribbon deep into the tree, loop it out, and then tuck it back in again
   This gives the ribbon a full, natural look
3. Let the ribbon fall “where it wants to” – let it drape vertically or angle a little
4. Vary the lengths of your “loops” as you go down and around the tree
5. Use a couple of different widths of ribbon for more texture

1. Cut the wired ribbon to between 2 and 4 foot lengths
