Bake Spicy Sugar Cookies
When I ask my three-year-old daughter what type of cookies we should bake together she always says one of two kinds: “heart cookies” (simple sugar cookies in heart shapes with sprinkles and icing) or “spicy cookies”.
These “spicy cookies” she loves have been a favourite treat of our family for a while now. Imagine if a snickerdoodle married a gingerbread man and they had a cookie baby. This cookie baby would be these spicy sugar cookies – they’re buttery and sugary like a snickerdoodle, but spiced just right like a (mild) gingerbread. Yum!
The most “exciting” part about making these cookies is rolling them in the spiced sugar. My daughter likes to line them up in a row and count them (she’s artistically aligned them above). It’s the cutest thing!
This recipe is adapted from Chai Spiced Sugar Cookies from My Baking Addiction.
