Classic Lake House Christmas Home Tour
I have one final Christmas blog post for you this year, and I promise it’s a good one! It’s my parents’ beautiful lake house all decorated for the Holidays, and I hope you’ll fall in love with it as much as I have. Get ready for some classic, cottage style Christmas goodness at my mom’s house to get you into the festive mood!
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Brick. As always, all of the opinions here are my own.
This is the first Christmas that my parents have had the chance to decorate their beautiful new lake house. You can read more about their building process right here. My mom used classic reds, greens and whites to decorate her home for the season this year and the result is gorgeous!
She created DIY outdoor planters for her home with inexpensive greenery and logs and twigs she found in the forest.
Upon entering their home, you’ll see my parents’ cozy Christmas living room.
It features a stunning custom fireplace decorated with a Christmas village and a cedar garland, a couch that my parents built, and this fabulous set of custom swivel chairs – the Designed2B Fabric Accent Swivel Chairs from The Brick. (You can find more information on these and how to customize them for your home in-store at The Brick!) They’re so soft and comfy, and my mom and dad love that they can turn them around to see the lake view!
My mom has decorated this room with lots of red and white handmade pillows, tons of greenery, and some heirloom Christmas decorations like her Christmas village and sentimental ornaments on the tree. The large ottoman is also from The Brick – the Designed2B Fabric Rectangular Storage Accent Ottoman (find more info on how to customize your Designed2B ottoman in store!) – and it acts as a wonderful spot for Christmas coffee and cookies!
I love how my mom has used red and burlap ribbon on her Christmas tree paired with ornaments as old as 36 years!
The gorgeous Oryx Mirror on the mantel is accented with a Christmas wreath, greenery garland, and my Mom’s Christmas village she’s had for many years.
Moving on to the kitchen, a few accents of red in some floral arrangements, a tea towel and bows on wreaths give this space a festive feel.
My parents still love their beautiful Maytag appliances are from The Brick, and I can’t wait to eat all of the goodies I know my mom will make on her gas stove for our Christmas celebrations!
In the dining room area, my mom refinished her antique table and made striped slipcovers for her chairs to give them an updated coastal look.
Her tablescape for Christmas features classic red & white dishes and napkins along with a floral centerpiece she made herself. Isn’t it beautiful and so perfectly Christmasy?
Upstairs, my mom has transformed her laundry room into a beautiful, festive wrapping station.
The counter above the Maytag 5.2 Cu. Ft. Front-Load Washer and Maytag 7.4 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer from The Brick has turned into the perfect surface to finish wrapping my parents’ gifts!
Finally, the gorgeous master bedroom in my parents’ lake house has been decorated for Christmas, too. A couple of handmade red plaid pillows paired with a Mongolian Sheepskin Pillow add so much coziness to their bed for the holidays.
Flannel sheets and a wreath above the bed are more little festive touches that add so much to this space! I love how the pops of red look with the classic white Bridgeport Bed from The Brick. You can style this traditional bed frame so many ways!
On the nightstands (the Calistoga Nightstands), my mom placed some faux greenery and gold lanterns. I love that my dad added a few little red cardinal decorations here, too!
My parents also added a real Christmas tree up here to enjoy through the season. It’s also decorated in reds and sentimental ornaments.
Atop this vintage industrial look table (found in-Store at The Brick), my mom arranged some red ornaments in a bowl along with more faux greenery. A little bit of red and greenery goes a long way, and I think my parents’ beautiful lake house cottage Christmas decor proves just that!
The final touch to my parents’ lake house classic Christmas decor is this simple but gorgeous garland. My mom simply added live cedar clippings to a faux greenery garland for an inexpensive but beautiful look. Striped red ribbon bows are the perfect finishing touch.
I hope you enjoyed my parents’ lake house Christmas tour as much as I did! I adore my mom’s classic cottage style and I think she did such an incredible job decorating her home for the season.
From my family to yours, have a very Merry Christmas!

Thank you for sharing your mom’s beautiful decorating ideas. Simple, yet thoughtful and warm.
I really like the Bible verse above the bed. Is this available for purchase or is it a diy project ? I would love to have one.
Your ideas on the blog are lovely. Blessings for a wonderful New Year !
Thanks, Elaine for the sweet words. The sign is only a diy project. Christina has it on her blog if you want to make one for yourself 🙂
This is all so beautiful!! Let me know if you are ever interested in doing a lake house blog hop, I would love to find a group to do a tour with! Your parents’ lake home is beautiful!
Oh wow, the house looks great. Those Christmas decorations are just wonderful. The colors and everything.
Everything looks so clean because of the white color but isn’t it harder to clean the house? And don’t you want some brighter colors there? Like the wall with some kind of colorful patterns?
Good Day
