Make DIY Wired Ribbon Bows
Do you love Christmas as much as I do? I’m a HUGE fan. Celebrating Christ’s birth is the best part for me and my family, but I also love all of the good memories that I associate Christmas with.
I’m really, really excited for Christmas 2013 because this is the very first Christmas that I have a big house to decorate! We lived in our garage house for almost 7 years prior to our new house, and we could barely even fit a Christmas tree in it. This year, I’m going as crazy with festive decor as I can within our budget. And I’m starting NOW!
I love big, sparkly bows at Christmas time. My mom always had red ribbon bows incorporated into her festive decor, and I always thought they were so pretty.
I found this gold & cream wired ribbon at Homesense and it was love at first sight. I made these DIY bows using this wonderful tutorial from Sweet Athena.
Since my ribbon was wider than the one in the tutorial (it’s 2 1/2″), I used the following measurements:
- main bow pieces: 24″ long
- “tails”: 18″ long
- middle tie: 6 1/2″ long
These bows are wonderful because they’re so simple to make, I can squish and store them with my Christmas decor, and “re-pouf” them when I want to use them again next Christmas!
When do you start your Christmas decorating?
I BET you’re having fun decorating your house this year! We can’t get a tree just yet, but I’ve been slowly finding time to hang wreaths on the doors and changing out my throws and pillow covers for more Christmas-y colours! The free Pointsettia from Superstore adds a nice touch, too. =)
Great ideas! I love your site!!!
