Asymmetrical Christmas Mantel Idea with fresh greenery and blue accents

Want to try something a little different for your mantel decor this Holiday season? Here’s how I created an asymmetrical Christmas mantel design with fresh greenery and blue coloured accents!

Did you see our “My Favorite Things” themed Christmas tree in our living room this year? I wanted to create some festive mantel decor to match it.

Rather than create a mantel garland like I normally do, it was fun to design something a little different. Normally, I like to keep my Christmas mantel decorating symmetrical, meaning it looks the same on both sides.

This year, I decided to try an asymmetrical design where my greenery garland drapes off one side of the mantel only. I love how it turned out!

The fresh greenery garland was pre-ordered from Costco Canada, and then I built it up on the left side with a faux eucalyptus garland from IKEA and some faux Spruce stems from Michaeals.

The addition of blue ornaments that match our tree made it really look great in our space, and I also hung some bells and stockings with Command hooks from the mantel too.

I love this whole look! It features non-traditional Christmas colours, but I think it still feels cozy and festive. The trick to an asymmetrical mantel? Make sure to keep it balanced by placing things like stockings, candlesticks and bottle brush trees on the opposite side of where your garland is hanging.
