Fall 2017 Home Tour: Cheerful Boho Farmhouse Style
It’s Fall! That means it’s time for me to welcome you into our home for a latte and to share some seasonal decorating ideas with you. Won’t you come on a Fall home tour with me? After you’ve had a peek, make sure to visit all of the Canadian bloggers that are also sharing their Fall decor ideas for the Canadian Bloggers Home Tour this week – they’re all listed at the bottom of this post. Shannon from AKA Design and I are hosting this tour again, and we’re blown away by the beautiful spaces that are being shared this season. Welcome to our Fall home tour!
Our leaves have JUST started to turn yellow, and this exterior photo was taken last week. We live on an acreage near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with our three kids and we designed & built our home in 2013.
I’ve decorated our front porch in cheerful Fall colors, and you can read more about that & see more photos here.
And here I am sitting leisurely on the main stairs in one of my favourite Fall outfits. (Just kidding! I’m probably clutching my latte while wearing my pajamas and trying to figure out how to survive early back-to-school mornings as you read this post.)
The first room to the right as you enter our home is our living room. I’ve used non-traditional colours this year for my Fall decor like pinks and turquoises, but I’ve thrown in warm touches of copper and deep green for an autumn vibe.
We used to have our keyboard in our sitting room, but when I changed that room to a dining room, the keyboard ended up in here. I actually like how it fits in the living room, and the furry chair happens to be a random accident. One day I piled an empty DIY faux fur pillow cover on this Peyton dining chair from The Brick and thought: “Huh! That looks pretty cute!”
On this door display in the corner, I hung a Christmas wreath that I made more Fall-ish with the addition of a pink sunflower, a copper pumpkin and some oversized tassels. This pretty, curvy dresser was a Brick Tent Sale find that I painted with DIY turquoise chalk style paint and I still love it!
I’ve decorated the mantel with my DIY wooden clock, some cozy looking lanterns, a faux boxwood garland, and some pretty pink lighted bottles I found in-store at The Brick.
I used similar items on my coffee table, and corralled them all with a round wicker tray. You might remember that textures like wicker were one of my favourite Fall 2017 trends!
A cozy fire always gets me in the Fall mood!
This pretty Daphne chair on the left is a great place to cuddle by the fire.
One of my DIY arm knit blankets and a variety of DIY throw pillows in shades of teal, pink and white help give our Paris sectional from The Brick a cozy Fall feel.
Just around the corner is our kitchen & breakfast nook. I didn’t do too much to the space, but there are subtle seasonal touches throughout the room to help make it cozier for the colder months and the celebrations ahead.
In our hutch, I’ve added pops of copper with some faux pumpkins and a mix of vintage and new copper pieces. I love how copper looks with teal and aqua!
A vintage copper kettle, teal dutch oven, and baby pumpkins from our garden add little bits of Fall to our kitchen.
I love burning yummy smelling candles in the kitchen in Fall-like scents.
The final room in our home that I’ve decorated for Fall is our dining room. I’ve also used rather non-traditional autumn colours here and love the unexpected results!
You can read more details about this Fall tablescape here, and this DIY macrame runner here.

You made me laugh so hard, “sitting leisurely on the main stairs” – bahahahaha double threat, adorable and hilarious! Hope your mornings are going a little smoother for ya, I know how much you LOVE them. 😉 There are so many Fall touches I am mad in love with! I would love to come sit on your sweet porch, have a wonderful visit with you and watch your girls running and playing! Your cozy living room, sigh! I am so in love with that door propped in the corner, that pink sunflower – WHAT – it’s so pretty!!! You make me want to buy all the teal and pink things! Thanks again, so much for organizing this – best tour around!!!!
Hahaha! I too am clutching my coffee in my leggings this morning after everyone has been pushed out the door for school!! I love your home Christina…it’s a dream for me to live in the country again! Everything you’ve done for fall in your space is just gorgeous. I love the copper with the teal, and all of your cozy fall elements! Just stunning! Happy Fall
Thank you so much, Jo-Anna. Coffee cheers ☕️
Christina, As always, your home looks so cozy and inviting. You have a way of adding pretty touches without it getting too cutesy (if you know what I mean). And I must add, I think it’s very nice of you to get all dressed up for the photo 😉 This time of year, I tend to live in leggings and tunics. Although, putting jeans on always keeps me in check! Love that round coffee table too. That’s one thing we’re missing in our living room, so I guess I need to do some shopping. Thanks again for organizing this lovely tour. Happy Fall!
Thanks for stopping by Shauna and leaving your oh so sweet comment. Christina is glowing ?
Stunning, Christina! I swoon over your home every tour season! I love your use of colour and the boho farmhouse vibe that you have going. Your hutch styling is always impeccable!! Gorgeous tour, friend, and thanks for all your organizing!!

Hello Christina, I appreciate your blog. There is nothing like flowers to decorate our home. It gives me a positive energy. You have really a nice home and I loved the way you have decorated it. I will buy fresh flowers and will surely follow these tips. Thanks for your tips.
Thank you, Alyssa.
Beautiful home – love your style! Your rug in the living room – what is the name and size of the rug you have?
Love the grey colour. Also what is your wall colour in the living room?
Thank you, Brigita.
Christina purchased her living room rug a while back from home sense.
Also, her living room wall main colour is Valspar Seashell Gray and the accent wall Valspar Rocky Bluffs.
Hope that helps 🙂
