Rustic Boho Christmas Mantel

To go along with my rustic, boho & glam Christmas tree design this year (see it here), I decorated our mantel in sparkly neutrals with lots of texture. I started with two flocked garlands from Michaels, layered an old Ikea eucalyptus garland in front of it, and then wove some wired copper fairy lights in and out of the faux greenery.

On the face of the mantel, I hung my DIY tassel garland from thrifted yarn (get that DIY right here), and added a couple of gold & white decorative trees from Michaels on either end. My stately Mansard Mirror from The Brick acts as a lovely focal point in the center of the mantel, and I hung some stockings from Michaels in a rich brown fur and cream knit on both ends.

Some faux wood monogram ornaments from Real Canadian Superstore added a personal touch to the stockings (and will help Santa know whose is whose!).

My tips for the perfect Christmas mantel decor?

Layer all the greenery.

Fresh or faux greens will always be in fashion at Christmas time, and there’s nothing quite like the smell and texture of greenery! I used faux greens here, but added a real greenery smell with essential oils in my diffusers! Layering a couple of different types of greenery like pine and eucalyptus adds interest and texture.

Add lots of texture.

A variety of different textures will make your mantel look lush and cozy. Try adding in spiky things, soft things, furry things, smooth things – all different textures to give your decor some interest!

Have a focal point.

Whether you have a lot or a little decor on your mantel, make sure there’s one piece that stands out among the rest so that the eye has a place to go. In my case, my large mirror is at the center of my mantel and is the largest piece. Your focal point could be a large wreath, a piece of art, or even a single lush garland.
