Unicorn Inspired Christmas Tree

My daughter Little A’s 6th birthday is on November 20th, and we’re going to be celebrating it unicorn style this year! She loves all things unicorn, so we both agreed this would be a fabulous theme for her party. When I purchased a new Christmas tree this year for the Holiday season, I decided that I may as well set it up a little early instead of hauling it into storage and then out again so soon. (That’s my excuse anyway, and I’m sticking to it!) When Little A saw the tree, she wondered if we could hold off until AFTER her birthday to decorate it, but then we thought of a better idea – why not make it a UNICORN tree?! This unicorn inspired Christmas tree will be the perfect decoration for A’s party, and it turned out so cute that I thought I needed to share it with you here today.

When I think of unicorns, I think of pastel colours and lots of glitter. That’s exactly what we added to this tree!

When I found a glittery cone tree that I had on hand, I thought it was the perfect unicorn horn shape, and it quickly became our tree topper. If you don’t have anything like this, you could easily make a cone tree out of glittery scrapbook paper like this.

When I decorate Christmas trees, I like to start with the ribbon, then the larger ornaments, and finally the smaller ornaments.

I had some large, glittery gold & white bows on hand that I made a few years ago (find that tutorial here), and I thought they added the perfect amount of ribbon to our unicorn inspired tree. After I spread a few of those evenly throughout the tree, we added some frosted faux greenery branches for some extra sparkle.

Next, the larger ornaments went on. Kat and Annie sent me some gorgeous metallic geometric ornaments, along with some pink ones (and a few others I’ll share in our next tree idea). They were perfect for this tree!

Smaller ornaments in pastel colours filled out the rest of the tree. We had all of them on hand already except for the lavender coloured ones. To make those, I dipped some old ornaments right in chalk style paint and hung them to dry. They turned out beautifully!
